Hiroshi Watanabe(渡辺 浩, also written in hiragana a lot ひろしわたなべ) was born in 1960, in Kumamoto Prefecture. He graduated from Kumamoto Technical High School. He first joined Studio Live and there he learned a lot from Toyo Ashida.

In the 80s he was one of the main animators of Sudio Live. Some of his best works were in Mahou no Princess Minky Momo Series, for which he gained some popularity.

His style is heavily influenced by Yoshinori Kanada and had good character acting and action scenes, but effects were his speciality.

Since middle 90s his work is more focused on directing. He left Sudio Live and now mainly works with studio Deen.

He is also known for his deep knowledge in railways and trains. He drew the character at the sign of a traditional restaurant named "Lunch House"(ランチハウス) at Ekoda Station in Tokyo.
