Yutaka Nakamura

Yutaka Nakamura(中村 豊) was born in 1967 in Fukuoka. Graduated from Yoyogi Animation Gakuin and first joined studio Adkosm(アドコスモ). After switching studios, from Art Office Sharaku(アートオフィス写楽) to Anime Torotoro(アニメトロトロ) to Sunrise, he settled at Bones with a contract.

After high school, a friend sent an application with his name on his own to a recruit for vocational schools. Among the guides and schools that they received back the animation school(Yoyogi) caught his eye, then he decided to become an animator. In his early days, he worked regularly on the same projects as Obunai Mitsuru(his colleague in Adkosm and Sharaku).

Easily the most popular Japanese animator at the moment among anime fans. He is among the best action animators, his scenes always feature catchy movement and effects. Some of his traits include: Shaking camera, blur, bending and stretching high-speed objects. His fights always have good choreography, and the hits have weight to them that makes them feel more intense. He likes using a lot of impact frames.

Probably his most famous trait is drawing debris as simple cubes, consequentially named "Yutapon Cubes". They are easier to draw and stylistic. He may not have invented this style, as he once said "When I saw Utsunomiya (Satoro) and others draw this effect like that, I thought "I will draw it like that too"". He is responsible for popularising its use nonetheless. Web-gen and young animators are especially influenced by his flashy style.
