Shingo Natsume

Shingo Natsume(夏目　真悟) was born in 1980, Aomori Prefecture. Originally from J.C.Staff, went through Gonzo and Shin-Ei Douga before going freelance.

Regarded as one of the promising talents of the industry, he gained attention for doing animation direction on Gonzo's "Welcome to the NHK", just 4 years after joining the industry(1 in-betweens, 3 key animation). He continued to collaborate with Welcome to the NHk's director, Erukin Kawabata, in subsequent years. He worked under Kenichi Konishi at Shin-Ei on the 2006 Doraemon film¹.

Friends with Akira Amemiya, which led to him participating in Gurren Lagann, a work that gained Hiroyuki Imaishi's praise, which Imaishi said resembled Shinya Ohira’s and Hisashi Mori’s animation somewhat. Has a tendency to use thick black highlights in his animation work¹.

After directing Umi Monogatari 13 and Tatami Galaxy 6, his interests shifted towards direction. He was unit director for the Fullmetal Alchemist: Sacred Star of Milos film and chief director for the Hori-san to Miyamura-kun OVA. His big break came with Space Dandy, where Natsume was responsible for the showrunning duties and general direction responsibilities in place of Shinichiro Watanabe¹. Has a great net of connections to some of the strongest talents in the industry, resulting in his works often hosting great animators and animation showcases such as One-Punch Man.
