Shoichi Masuo

Shoichi Masuo(増尾　昭一) was born in 1960, in Tokyo. Joined Studio Giants after graduating from Tokyo Designer Gakuin College. He died in 24/7/2017, at the age of 57(Source).

He worked with animators Masayuki and Takahashi Naohito, who also studied at Tokyo Designer College and joined Studio Giants at almost the same time. After Leaving Studio Giants and spending some time as a freelancer, he joined Kouji Itou, Hideaki Anno and Katsuhiko Nishijima to establish studio Graviton. After leaving Graviton he spent some time at Gainax, Tatsunoko Pro Hakuba(タツノコプロ白馬), A.P.P.P and Gonzo before joining the newly created Studio Khara.

He excels at drawing effects that are catchy and varied. Mecha also is one of his strong points, and he is known to deliver high quality work whether it's digital or traditional. He mainly worked on OVA's.
