Yuki Hayashi

Yuki Hayashi (林　祐己) was born in 1984.

Graduate of Toei’s animator training program whose first KA was on BECK. Praised by Takashi Hashimoto. Good friends and frequent collaborator with Rie Matsumoto, as both got their start at Toei around the same time¹.

Hayashi’s dense, smear-heavy cuts stand in stark contrast to the regular animation quality on Toei’s shows. His normal character animation errs to the realistic side with strong attention paid to body language. His FX work is immediately recognizable for its controlled mix of straight and curved forms and its use of splinters. Hayashi is especially skilled in scenes involving fire, water, clothing, and hair¹.

One of the premier animators on Toei’s Precure franchise. Has animated for various Toei shows including Mononoke, One Piece, Saint Seiya, Toriko, and Kuuchuu Buranko. Has also participated in sakuga-heavy productions Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta, Xam’d, and Summer Wars. Tried his hand in character design with Tanken Driland and Kyousougiga, the latter of which he drew a staggering number of layouts for¹, and did more designs on Rie Matsumoto shows.
