Yoshiji Kigami

Yosihji Kigami(木上　益治) was born in Osaka. He is now one of the main directors at Kyoto Animation. Pen Names include: Tada Fumio(多田文男), Miyoshi Ichirou(三好一郎), and Tada Fumio(多田文雄).

He is known for his work on Sasuga no Sarutobi and Crayonshin-chan Movies. He worked at Shin-Ei Douga and Ekura Animaru before joining Kyoto Animation.

He is highly regarded among the industry. Toshiyuki Inoue said "I couldn't surpass him", while Hiroyuki Okiura commented "If you want to know what type of animators there are in Kyoto(Animation), look at the back of Yoshiji Kigami".

He has a realistic style, he loves scenes with a lot of camera movement too. His realistic approach is obvious in his work in Full Metal Panic? Fumuffu and his episode in Shuukan Storyland. After his participation at Noroi no Onepiece, from directing to supervising and character designing, he became a regular director, most notably directing Kyoto Animation's first project as a main contractor, Munto.

He works a lot under his pen names, or even uncredited.

Died in the Kyoto Animation arson fire in 2019, at the age of 61, while still being an active part of the studio.
